OpenAI has disclosed more safety incidents as it takes up new rules for reporting misbehavior by its AI models. In a blog post, the ChatGPT maker says it will aim to disclose examples of what it calls model misalignment that provide useful information about how it manifests and where safeguards succeed or fail.
[00:00:25] [SPEAKER_00] That includes the newly reported incidents, which include a model rewriting its own instructions during testing. OpenAI says any employee can flag an incident for potential disclosure and review by technical staff. Minor incidents must be disclosed within two weeks, while more complex investigations involving third parties may take longer. News Corp, owner of The Wall Street Journal, has a content licensing partnership with OpenAI.
[00:00:51] [SPEAKER_00] We exclusively report MasterCard plans to roll out an agentic payment option for everyday purchases this week. MasterCard is the latest payments giant to strike an AI shopping deal with startup Alchemy, which allows users to issue virtual cards to AI bots with set restrictions. The companies say the cardholder's authorization can take place at different points in the process, such as okaying a transaction based on set parameters in advance, or asking the AI agent to check with them before making a purchase.
[00:01:19] [SPEAKER_00] Visa has already partnered with Alchemy, meaning most credit cards can now work with the tool. Visa, MasterCard, and American Express have each announced their own tools and standards to support AI purchases. And Nokia says it will partner with Microsoft to expand its data offering to telecommunications providers. The Finnish company says the collaboration would combine Nokia Data Suite with Microsoft Fabric to support agentic AI operations, allowing telecom companies to access reliable data in days instead of weeks.
